Our promise: to publish and die
Chapter 1 PAK review
The highlight of our intention is to consider
- our education
- enable that to help us with pursuit of happiness
- in this, to find that we understand something which might have been rather uncertain to us
- to find enjoyment in literature
- by entertainment or contribution to our philosophy
- to find time to read, recognising that as, in itself, a good thing
- improve the depth of our intellect
- avoid cheap renditions to the preference of reading: that is, avoid cinema or film as first port of call, or avoid wikipaedia and to find the resource in our mind
- avoid noise of other entertainments and distractions
- read a chapter a day/night
- keep notes about uncertainties, thoughts, characters, style, approach and advancement of plot summary
- seek understanding of the position of the novel in the author's life
- consider his statements about the novel, and literature (including his own) generally
- analyse the character of the main actors/characters [that is why they are called characters]
- notice their advancement through the book
- consider historic, cultural, social, political, geographic and economic situation of the plot
- What was going on in Haiti at the time (1966)
- what other novels or historical literature can be found to fill up our void of knowledge on Haiti?
- what is the underlying message? or messages?
- how does it resolve: surprises?
- foreign language use in English novel
- meaning of words in context
- how does this novel relate to our respective position in the world and time (here and now, or when first read, or when one might read it again)
So: Chapter 1: the Comedians
